Grenada

Updated: Nov 20, 2018

On Thursday morning, our Royal Caribbean ship, Adventure of the Seas, pulled into it's last stop: the island of Grenada. The "Spice Island" is most known for its abundance of Caribbean spices, such as nutmeg, and its numerous postcard worthy beaches.

I decided to enjoy in the latter and headed to Grand Anse Beach, a nearly 2 mile expansion of white sand and turquoise ocean. The day was spent lounging on the beach, dipping into the water to cool off, and playing with sea stars.

That evening, back on the ship we had our second fancy night. Once again, I took our family photos instead of paying for the cruise's photos (which can be nice and we have purchased them in the past).

The next day, we had a day at sea which is common on most cruise lines. Some people love the day at sea, others hate it. Here are my favorite things to do at sea on a cruise:

  • Relax by the pool (there's usually a smoking and nonsmoking side of the pool. I prefer nonsmoking).

  • Make yourself a cocktail (bring on your own rum, disguised in plastic water bottles of course, buy an unlimited soda/virgin cocktail pass, make your own cocktails for a much cheaper price).

  • Go to a show. I've seen some pretty good (and pretty bad) comedy onboard a cruise ship.

  • Take a walk around the ship. There's usually a deck that's completely outside and loops around the cruise. Normally it's found at a lower level where they do the safety drill. It's less crowded than the pool deck, usually longer than any track onboard, and has great views.

  • Read a book and/or play sudoku
