Day One
On the same day that Nico and I visited the White Temple in Chiang Rai, Thailand, we caught a flight to Luang Prabang, Laos to meet up with Kristen and Josh. Unfortunately, there weren't any direct flights to Laos so we had to make a connection through Bangkok.
When we arrived, however, it was super simple to take a taxi from the airport to our hostel where we met up with Kristen and Josh. The hostel was called Vongprochan Backpackers Hostel. It was decent - the beds were comfortable and there was wifi although it was slow, especially at night when a lot of people were using it.
Vongprachen Backpackers Hostel:
Slow Wifi
Comfy beds
Small lockers
Free breakfast
Cute bathroom sinks
Clean
After dropping things off and getting changed, Kristen and Josh took us to Mt. Phousi to see the sunset. It was pretty crowded at this time as a lot of others had the same idea, but the view was spectacular. I could see both rivers on either side of town and the sun was a deep red as it disappeared behind the mountains.
After sunset, we walked through the market and grabbed dinner at a restaurant down by the river.

Day Two
The next day, we decided we'd try renting motorbikes since they all drive on the right side of the road in Laos. Kristen and Josh got their own bikes and I road on the back of Nico's.
We drove to Kung Si Waterfall. There was one large waterfall followed by many cascading pools and small waterfalls to play in. The water was a foggy turquoise colored by mineral deposits. As we dipped our feet in, little fish would swim up and give us pedicures.
We swam and lounged in the water for a bit and then decided to fly the drone by the big falls. I got a nice shot of the scenery but the drone couldn't get a good GPS signal, which made it difficult to control and I landed it after a few minutes.
After leaving the falls, we drove the motorbikes around for a little bit before returning them to the rental shop.

For dinner, we stopped at a place along the same street as the night market. The food was just okay but it at least had good enough wifi to plan the next leg of our trip (to Vang Vieng!).
